Murraya Paniculata Min-a-min

Murraya paniculata Min-a-min is one of the most popular dwarf murraya.

This dwarf murraya grows to a maximum height of about 36 by 36 inches (90 by 90 cm) that is why it is popular for low hedges and container plants, especially in Australia where it was developed.

Like other murraya plants, min-a-min is frost tender and prefers warm sunny climates.

It will bloom for most of the year except in winter to early spring.

This dwarf murraya is low maintenance, but you need to water newly-planted murraya at least once a week for about six (6) to eight (8) weeks until it is established.

Murraya min-a-min also requires minimal watering, but your murraya will benefit from light pruning in the warmer months to keep its shape.

Dwarf Murraya Paniculata

There is a specific dwarf variety of murraya that grow even smaller than min-a-min.

The Dwarf Murraya grows to a maximum of 24 inches (60 cm), compared with a min-a-min that can grow to 36 inches (90 cm).

Dwarf murraya produces bright orange or red fruits after flowering.

This murraya is popularly used as container plants and even as very low murraya hedge.

Its leaves are even smaller than the murraya min-a-min, and at about 12 inches (30 cm) it could already resemble a tiny tree.

Because of this quality, the dwarf murraya is also a popular flowering bonsai tree.

Murraya Exotica Minima

Technically not M. paniculata, but M. exotica is very close to M. paniculata that is why we included this in the list.

Like the dwarf M. paniculata, M. exotica minima grows to a maximum of 24 inches (60 cm). However, compared with M. paniculata, M. exotica grows quite slowly.

But do not be discouraged if it takes about two years to even grow to 12 inches (30 cm). M. exotica minima will produce flowers even at about 2 inches (5 cm) tall and with only very few leaves.

Another difference with M. exotica minima and dwarf murraya paniculata is the size of its leaves. Dwarf murraya has smaller leaves, and M. exotica minima has larger leaves even if they are of the same height. You can enjoy looking at and smelling the flowers of murraya exotica minima year-round.
