Build a free-draining bonsai mix with specialist mineral growing media. The Akadama range covers Double Line Akadama in 1–3mm and 3–6mm grades and Hard Akadama in four grades from 1–2mm to 6–10mm. For shohin, mame, propagation and fine top dressing, see Akadama Tsuti 1–3mm; for the mineral half of the mix, add Japanese pumice.
