More information

New, Ecopore is a next-step-up perlite for growers who want the drainage and aeration of perlite without its weak points.

These coarse 6–10mm white volcanic granules are made by superheating perlite until it fuses into a harder, denser form. The result does everything regular perlite does: opens up heavy mixes, sharpens drainage, and gets air right into the root zone. But the granules resist crushing and breaking down, and they float far less, so they stay put in the mix instead of rising to the top every time you water.

Features

  • Harder and longer-lasting than regular perlite. Resists crushing and breakdown, so your mix stays open and airy for years
  • Floats less than standard perlite, with no white layer collecting on top of the pot
  • Creates permanent air pockets that keep oxygen moving through the root zone, even in large, heavy pots
  • Sharp drainage. Excess water passes straight through, greatly reducing the risk of root rot
  • Sterile and pH neutral. Free of weeds, pests and pathogens, and won't interfere with your feeding schedule
  • Clean, inert and lightweight, easy to blend through any mix

Perfect for

  • Chunky aroid mixes: the ideal coarse element for Monstera, Philodendron and Alocasia
  • Succulents, cacti and bonsai mixes that need a fast-drying, open structure
  • Orchid mixes needing airflow around the roots
  • Hydroponic and soilless systems wanting a clean, inert medium
